LA Deep Funk

Connie Price and the Keystones-Wildflowers

This group from LA will melt your face with funk.  Connie Price is the alias of drummer/multi-instrumentalist Dan Ubick from Breakestra, who formed the group with trumpeter friend Todd M. Simon.   Wildflowers is the debut album which features appearances by Malcolm Catto, and members of: Funk Inc, Poets Of Rhythm, and The L.A. Carnival, and can easily set the tone for your next funk extravaganza.  The drums hit harder than the Packers D and the wah-wah vibes are on full effect.  Horns and strings add the right amount of texture to create almost visual hooks at times.  As a bonus treat on this album the title track features nice vocals and a real jazzy breakdown.  As well tall dry grass is an interesting jazzy number that takes pleasure in moving about in space.  Still my favorite tracks on this album evoke the finest funk fixtures of the jb’s, tracks like suckerpunch, and sticks and stones.

Connie Price and the Keystones-Give A Demonstration – Part 2 (Instrumental)
